Vijayawada Municipal Corporation is planning to conduct the ‘Pushkarams festival' in a befitting manner. Necessary infrastructural facilities will be arranged. All the amenities required will be provided to the devotees. Roads leading to the ghats will be developed on priority basis. Roads from various places entering Vijayawada will also be modernized. An amount of rupees thirty eight crores is earmarked for the purpose. Twenty ‘Yatrinivases’ will be arranged in the ‘pushkarnagars’ all along the Krishna River. Rupees thirty four crores is the estimated cost. 5,000 temporary toilets and 2,000 dress-changing rooms will be erected. 30,000 sanitary workers from all over the State will be deployed. A number of drinking water taps will be installed. Medical camps will be organized with sufficient Doctors and staff and medicines will be made available. Ambulances will be kept ready. 300 CCTV cameras will be fixed at conspicuous places. Transport, Police, RTC, Railways departments together with the Municipal Corporation are jointly preparing the necessary plans to be implemented.
Pushkar ghats in Thotavalluru Mandal
The existing pushkar ghats on Royyuru, Vallurupalem, Thotavalluru, Chagantipadu, Devarapalli and Ayiluru of Thotavalluru mandal of Krishna district will function for the ensuing Krishna pushkarams. Another four ghats in Pamulalanka, Bhadrirajupalem, Pillivanilanka and Kallamvaripalem are proposed by the local officers keeping the demands of the local public representatives and residents of the respective areas in view. There is a demand that the road from Royyuru to Ayiluru (Chinna katta) is to be developed to monitor the traffic in an effective manner.
The famous Sriramalingeswaraswamy temple (Dakshina kasi) and Sriragunayakaswamy temple and Srirukmini Satyabhama Venugopalaswamy temple, Sribhramaramba Chennmallikarjunaswamy temple in Thotavalluru and ‘Sivalayas’ in Royyuru, Valluripalem, Bhadrirajupalem and Chagantipadu will be visited by the devotees during the pushkarams. The development works for those temples are proposed by the Endowments department. Roads are proposed by the Panchayatraj department to be developed at a total cost of Rs. 5.91 crores.
