The Collector, Krishna District has conducted a review meeting on Krishna pushkar works with Officers of all relevant departments. The Railways and Road Transport Corporation Officers should arrange transport facilities to the pilgrims coming to Vijayawada, amaravati region. The RTC Officers should arrange mini buses to transport pilgrims from Vijayawada to the pushkar ghats. The authorities should arrange CC cameras at the Railway station so that necessary facilities can be provided at times of heavy rush of pilgrims. The Railways department should plan additional trains/coaches to and from Vijayawada, give publicity and take necessary steps for advance booking.
Works pertaining to roads linking the pushkar ghats are to be developed on priority basis. Panchayat raj and Road & Buildings departments are to prepare the estimates for the works immediately and complete the works by 15th May, 2016. Boats and swimmers are to be kept ready by the Fisheries department. Medical camps are to be arranged by Medical & Health department. Sixty thousand pilgrims are expected per day. Only qualified Purohits are to be appointed by the Endowments department.
1 K.M. long Pushkar ghat at Seethanagaram (Tadepalli area)
A Pushkar ghat is proposed to be constructed at Krishna River at Seethanagaram in Tadepalli area (Guntur district.) The Officers have proposed to build a ghat similar to Kotilingala ghat at Rajahmundry (East Godavari district) here. This ghat is proposed for a length of one kilometre from Prakasam barrage (Tadepalli side) to Railway Bridge on Krishna River at Mahanadu.
Development of Pushkar ghats
Out of 74 pushkar ghats proposed in Krishna district, 36 are in Vijayawada division. Pushkar works are commenced in Thotavalluru mandal.
